PH levels

The purpose of antacids are to reduce or neutralize an acid. The Ph system helps measure that. It measures the amount of alkaline or acidity a solution has. The more acidity something has, the closer to an acid it is. The more alkaline something has, the closer it is to a base. 7 on the Ph scale is neutral, neither nor. Its pretty self explanatory that a bad balance of acids can be bad.  With a 1 being an acid and a 10 being a basic, you can determine which antacids are the most effective when trying to settle your body. In the experiment we used Tums and Rholaids, regular and extra strength. All but one ended up with the same Ph level of six. The extra strengh Rholaids didn't have as much effectiveness as the rest with a five. This concludes that it doesn't matter which one you use because they both counteract with the acids the same. With other antacids the results may be different.
